Located five minutes from downtown Los Angeles, Silver Lake is largely a community of hills, Craftsman, Spanish and traditional homes.
The reservoir is its focal point. People flock there to walk, jog, or bike. The hills above the reservoir have the look and feel of the French Riviera. The park adjacent to the reservoir offers an outdoor basketball court and a well known dog park.
Silver Lake is more than parks and a reservoir. It has many cool restaurants: if you like Cuban food, Cha Cha Cha packs in the crowd; if you'd prefer Indian, Tantra is outstanding; if Americana is your cup of tea, there's the Edendale Grill; an if country French is your preference, there's Dusty's. Tantra and the Edendale Grill also offer a bit of history - Tantra used to be a theatre, and the Edendale Grill was formerly a fire stattion.
Its bars and specialty stores are no less interesting. Tiki Ti, known for its Polynesian cocktails, has long brought customers to Silver Lake. The Cheese Store and Bar A Vin are convenient for quick purchases. What you cannot find in either of these stores, you'll find at Ralphs, Gelson's or Trader Joe's.
For pet supplies, Collar & Leash will fulfill your needs.
Lastly, if you enoy catching movies new to DVD, you'll be very happy with Video Hut, which has all of the new films before they're commercially released elsewhere.
